Facilitating the Smooth Transition of Second-Year XJTLU Students into Planning Programmes at the University Of Liverpool

Increasingly internationalised student cohorts within planning schools offer opportunities to enhance existent learning, but may also present potential issues, such as language difficulties, cultural disorientation, and the need assimilate learning styles, internationalise curricula, varying pedagogic teaching all of which can impact staffing costs. In 2016 Department Planning Geography at University Liverpool obtained a Learning & Teaching (T&L) Award develop projects examining for more meaningful experience undergraduate students transitioning from XJTLU – university’s sister institution in Suzhou, China. This intervention primarily sought promote complementary understanding British Chinese UoL facilitate improved academic attainment completing their studies Liverpool. Evaluating those aspects focused on additional contact one-to-one guidance students, this paper reflects project develops recommendations managing process transfer well ensuring that discipline integrates “soft skills” effectively its teaching.
